Taking Stock – Ole! Media Group launches new photographic service, RealTime Images

Cape Town, 13 September 2016 – The Ole! Media Group, one of South Africa’s fastest growing independent digital media companies, has taken another visionary step with the launch of their new international visual content agency – RealTime Images – a sub-division of TEAMtalk media, the Group’s content syndication arm.

RealTime Images, headed up by Kate Dearlove, Ron Gaunt and Leigh Benson, further bolsters the Group’s content offering to publishers, brands and agencies alike. Working with a host of independent photographers and videographers across South Africa, the team will source and provide quality photographs, videos, and even streamed news conferences, to support today’s evolving stories.

In addition to these graphic news offerings, Real Time Images will also provide images and footage, as well as their professional services for bespoke assignments. This is great news for both local and international photographers, especially those who have been faced with limited avenues for their works, as traditional media houses trim staffers, and the world of media digitally evolves.

Focusing on sport, news (current affairs) and entertainment, RealTime Images will syndicate South African stories to local and international publishers, but is also working with international agencies to share their stories to local outlets.

Tim Legg, co-Founder of Ole! Media Group says: “It’s an exciting time for the Group, as Real Time Images answers the growing demand for authentic visual content. This was seen with the recent staging of the Olympic Games when RealTime Images supplied IMI Mobile with live images for their outlets, as well as placing the cover photograph for a recent edition of Huisgenoot magazine.”

Dearlove, who is no stranger to the photographic world having worked in the past for some of the globe’s largest photography houses, is also keen to see what the future holds, remarking: “The advent of digital media has seen an increased need for good news photographers and videographers who can capture ‘the story’ in a single moment. We have been very selective about the photographers we choose to work with as this medium demands a true eye and attention to detail, but it also presents an exceptional opportunity to attract and nurture young photographers into this business, as the demand for visual content is growing daily.”

The RealTime Images Team

Leigh Benson
Leigh Benson joins RealTime Images with ten years of industry experience, in portrait and events photography as well as studio and sales management.

Leigh has shot for top publications and corporates including Destiny Magazine and SAfm, while managing a successful family portrait studio. She also led the editorial sales team at Gallo Images as Media Sales Manager. Using this experience from both sides of the image licensing coin, Leigh brings a dynamic approach to her RealTime team with a keen eye for strong visuals and a passion for people.

When she isn’t connecting with customers, developing a sales strategy, crunching numbers or shooting and editing images fuelled by copious amounts of tea, this self-confessed sports addict is mildly obsessing about net run rates, whether Liverpool can finish higher than mid-table and if she can achieve a new Parkrun personal best.

Kate Dearlove
Kate has built her reputation by working for the industry greats including Getty Images. During her twenty years overseas she has worked on major global events, and understands what is needed from the four-corners of the world.

Kate is at the heart of Real Time Images – with her industry knowledge she manages how we can work together with trust, through collaborating with partners, photographers and customers. Since moving back to Cape Town, Kate has embraced the outdoors by mountain biking – when she can find the time.

Ron Gaunt
Ron built a successful international photographic agency, servicing clients in India and South Africa. Working as official photographers for the Board of control for Cricket in India, his team are the official photographers for the Indian Premier League and also The Indian Super League football tournament.

Ron has covered major sporting events such as The Olympics, Commonwealth Games and the FIFA World Cup along with numerous overseas assignments.

Having previously established a strong photographic team it was a natural progression to join RealTime Images where his skills and experience can be fully utilized. When not behind a camera Ron is found in the family 4×4 trying to satiate his need for travel, whilst taking a few pics along the way.
